Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Charleston Police Department has released its after-action report on the Memorial Day mass shooting that occurred on May 30. The report is meant to review how the department can improve its response and also looks at the positive practices. The report indicated that there were lifesaving supply issues during the incident. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. For the 12th month in a row, home sales in the Charleston area have declined. The decline is attributed to rising inflation and increased borrowing costs. Residential closures decline by 24.1 percent in August, according to the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors. There are currently 2,805 "active" properties on the market. (Charleston Post Courier)
  3. The Charleston County School District's Board of Education has approved a new Johns Island school. The approval was given on Monday. The school will be located on Swygert Landing and will be fully completed by 2024, with a March 2023 open date. The school will be able to educate 700 students with a possible expansion of up to 900 students. (WCBD News 2)
