Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:
- Charleston will avoid the worst of Hurricane Fiona but local beaches will still be impacted. The storm will create a lot of wave energy, which means beaches will have high surf, dangerous rip currents, and tall breakers. A high surf advisory will be in effect until 11:00 p.m. today. The National Weather Service recommends any beachgoers avoid swimming. (Count On 2)
- Sweet Grass Vodka is investing $1.7 million into a new Charleston facility. The investment will create 47 new jobs in the facility at 1640 Meeting St. The family-owned distilling company reports that the new facility will begin operations next month. (ABC News 4)
- A Charleston teen has been arrested for exchanging gunfire with individuals that confronted him about car tampering. He has been charged with attempted murder, unlawful carry of a handgun, possessing a handgun as a minor, possessing a weapon during a violent crime, tampering with a vehicle, and larceny. The teen’s identity has not been released due to his age. (Live 5 News)
