John's Island Man Charged with CDV, Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested a John's Island man on Monday after allegations of child sexual abuse surfaced at his child's school

Allegations of child sexual abuse from 2006-07 and an alleged threat to murder his wife and children landed a John's Island man behind bars Monday, according to a Charleston County Sheriff's Office statement.
Melvin Octavise Walker, Jr., 46 of 3026 Cane Slash Road, John's Island is charged with criminal sexual conduct on a minor younger than 11, lewd act on a minor younger than 14 and criminal domestic violence, according to the statement. He is being held at Al Cannon Detention Center.
The criminal sexual conduct and lewd act charges stem from incidents in 2006 and 2007 in which Walker is accused of performing oral sex on his minor child in his home and forcing the minor to touch his genitals, according to charging documents provided by the Sheriff's Office.

The abuse allegations were uncovered by a Department of Social Services coordinator who had responded to the victim's school to investigate allegations of abuse in the home, according to a CCSO incident report.
Walker's wife was informed of the DSS findings and agreed to remove her children from the family home to a safe house while the investigation was ongoing. Walker allegedly threatened to kill her, their children and then himself upon learning of the allegations against him, which led to the criminal domestic violence charge, according to a CCSO statement.
