KKK Fliers Littering Forest Lakes

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating flyers promoting the Ku Klux Klan that have been distributed in a West Ashley neighborhood

The residents of the Forest Lakes subdivision off of Dogwood Road found fliers promoting the Ku Klux Klan strewn about their properties Friday morning.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating, and advises any residents who receive the fliers to discard them as the office already has "numerous pieces of evidence," according to a CCSO statement.

The black-and-white flier features a drawing of a hooded KKK member doing the Uncle Sam "I want you" finger point above the words "Neighborhood Watch," and includes the phrase "You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake." The fliers were distributed by the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, one of five Klan groups active in South Carolina, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
