Last Chance: To Join the Relay for Life

West Ashley High School is hosting the 2012 Relay for Life Charleston this Friday, and there is still time for cancer survivors, relay teams and individuals to register

Hundreds of luminaries will line and light the track at Friday night as it plays host to the event.

The fundraiser starts at 7 p.m. with an opening ceremony followed by the Survivors' Lap, then the teams and individuals that signed up to raise money for the American Cancer Society's efforts to fund cancer research and provide various services to cancer patients will take to the track.

"We have over 100 survivors signed up and more than 60 teams," Relay Co-chair Wynde Limehouse said.

The Relay will last 12 hours until 7 a.m. Saturday. Survivors can register online or in person at the Relay. Teams and individual participants can also register online until Friday and raise money for the event through sponsorships and selling luminaries, and luminaries can be purchased at the Relay as well.

"But you don't have to register to come out and support the event," Limehouse added. "Sometimes it's good just to come out and get a feel for it for next year's Relay."
