Last Chance: To Run the Landing First

Charles Towne Landing is launching a new series of 5K runs and Thursday is the last day to register for the first one

Charleston runners will be following in the footsteps of the first European settlers in the Carolina colony with the series of 5Ks launching this week.

The trails at will host a new series of evening 5K runs this spring and summer, and the first race Thursday. The race series, which will be held on Thursday evenings in May, June and July will include a USATF certified and timed 5K run at 7 p.m. and a kids run event starting at 6:15 p.m.

Registration is $10 for the kids run and $25 for the 5K. Proceeds go to The Friends of Charles Towne Landing's efforts to support the mission of Charles Towne Landing.

Racers can also register at Charles Towne Landing until 30 minutes prior to the race.

Each run in the series has a theme and post-race party, this Thursday is "Southern Comfort" featuring a pig pickin' and bluegrass after the race.

Other runs in the series include "Barbados Night" on May 10, "Taste of Italy" on June 7, "Mexican Fiesta" on June 14 and "All American" on July 19.
