Looking for a Career Change? Why Not Teach
American Board is hosting transition to teaching events in West Ashley later this month

For many young people, outside of family members, the ones who make the most difference are teachers.
American Board of Certification for Teacher Excellence has been helping professionals without teaching degrees transition into the profession since 2001 with the help of a U.S. Department of Education grant. The idea is to help people with real-world experience in their professions become teachers and be able to pass along the lessons learned in their careers.
ABCTE will be hosting three sessions in Charleston on Saturday, Aug. 18 to show area residents interested in becoming teachers how to go about earning their teaching certification and what to expect in a new career as a teacher. South Carolina Teacher Certification Specialist Katelyn Price will lead the sessions.

“Anyone with a bachelor’s degree can become a full-time teacher within a year as long as they plan the right path.” Price said in a press release about the events. “We are searching for people who have real-life experience and want to apply that experience in the classroom.”
The first session starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by one at noon and another at 1 p.m. All three will be held at the at 307 Savannah Hwy. All sessions are free and open to the public.
