Man Charged in Savannah Highway Armed Robbery

Charleston Police announced the arrest of a West Ashley man accused of robbing a Savannah Highway restaurant Sunday evening.

Charleston Police on Monday announced the arrest of a man accused of robbing a Savannah Highway restaurant Sunday evening, according to a statement from Public Information Officer Charles Francis.

Frank Middleton, 64, of 1618 Balsam St., Charleston, is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Middleton was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Monday, about six hours after he is accused of robbing Five Guys Burgers and Fries at 1662 Savannah Highway.

Police say Middleton entered the restaurant around 6:15 p.m. Sunday with a handgun and robbed it. He then fled on foot into the nearby Ardmore neighborhood.

"Investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect and the arrest was made," Francis stated.
