Martin Luther King Day Parade Begins at 11 a.m.
The City of Charleston and YWCA sponsored Martin Luther King Parade beings at Burke High School downtown at 11 a.m.

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday events begin at Burke High School aat 244 President St. at 11 a.m. Monday.
The parade will be led by Charleston County School District Supernintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley, and will feature more than 150 groups including marching bands, civic leaders, clubs, businesses and churches.
The parade route runs from Burke to Ashley Avenue along Fishburne Street, then north to Sumter Street, east along Sumter to King Street and then south to Marion Square.

Immediately following the parade at 12:30 p.m., the YWCA will host a youth speak out with Jack & Jill of America, Inc. at the YWCA headquarters at 106 Coming St.
