Monster Music Holds Food Drive for Lowcountry Food Bank
Music lovers can donate to a good cause this weekend and get some deals on CDs, vinyl and more

CHARLESTON - With 190,000 families along the South Carolina coast now depending on the services of the Lowcountry Food Bank, keeping the pantry shelves stocked is a huge challenge.
Located on Orleans Road, in West Ashley is hoping to help out with that endeavor with its second annual food drive to benefit the food bank. The store will collect non-perishable food items 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday. Those donating will receive $1 off CDs, DVDs and LPs for each item donated. Monster will also be making a monetary donation to the Food Bank, $1 for every item donated.
The Food Bank has seen a 25 percent increase in need since 2006 and is now serving more than 24,000 people each week.

"We sincerely hope that people will come out and enjoy themselves, and we look forward to collecting and donating a large amount for the Lowcountry Food Bank," Monster Music District Manager Galen Hudson said.
Monster is also teaming up with Mount Pleasant's Village Tavern to provide live music in store beginning at 2 p.m., featuring Tyler Boone, Corey Webb, and Run Dan Run.

The store is also holding a giant sidewalk sale with thousands of used CDs and LPs for 50 cents each.
The items most needed by the Lowcountry Food Bank are: rice, tuna, grits, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, dried or canned beans, canned fruits and vegetables and diapers and personal hygiene products. See a full list of items the Food Bank needs here.
