Oh Christmas Tree: Where to Find a Tree in West Ashley
Several places sell fresh cut Christmas trees this time of year, here's a rundown of where you can find your perfect tree

Thanksgiving is over and it's time to get a tree to put all the presents you bought on Black Friday under.
Around West Ashley there are several places you can pick up a fresh-cut Christmas tree. Most places are stocked up on Frazier firs, but if you're in the mood for something else, you can find loads of variety if you know where to look.
Cardinal Tree Farms has once again opened a lot next to the Chick-fil-A in Ashley Crossing Shopping Center. All the trees at Cardinal are Frazier firs. Prices are roughly $10 per foot in height; sizes range from two feet up to 14 feet. Wreaths are also available. Cardinal trees come from West Jefferson, N.C.

The largest variety of tree species is available at Southwind Tree Farm at 1119 St. Andrews Blvd. Tree prices run from $10 - $150, sizes range from three feet to more than 16 feet. Southwind carries as many as 14 species including Frazier fir, balsam fir, concolor fir, grand fir, nikko fir, nordman fir, veechi fir, blue spruce, white spruce, Serbian spruce and Douglas fir. Southwind's trees are grown in New York state. The Southwind lot is open 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. seven days a week.
Another all Frazier fir lot is set up at Coastal Landscape Supply on at 810 St. Andrews Blvd. Prices start at $25 for six foot trees and increase about $10 per foot in height for the lowest grade trees on the lot. Higher grades are available in various sizes and prices start at $50 for mid-grade trees and $60 for high grade trees. The largest trees on the lot go for $100. Wreaths are also available. The lot at Coastal Landscape is open 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. every day.

Santa's Forrest Christmas Tree Lot has once again set up in front of the Doschers at 1133 Savannah Hwy., a location it has had for about three decades now. All of the trees on the lot are Frazier firs from outside of Boone, N.C. Prices start at $45 and go up to approximately $230 for the 18-22-foot trees. The lot is open 1 - 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Wreaths are also available and Santa's Forrest will make deliveries.
The West Ashley Optimist Club is once again selling Christmas trees to fund its programs for the coming year at the St. Andrews Parks and Playgrounds complex at 1095 Playground Road. The lot has plenty of Frazier firs and a few white pines. Prices run from $20 for a 2-3-foot tree up to $110 for a 9-10 footer. The lot is open noon - 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 - 8 p.m. Sundays. All proceeds go to the Optimist Club for programs including sponsorship of youth recreation league teams at St. Andrews Parks and Playgrounds, scholarships available to West Ashley students, Shannon's Hope - a program in conjunction with hospice and other club initiatives. The tree sale is the Optimist Club's sole fundraiser each year.
