Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday March 2 by joining book lovers and your local school and public library for Read Across America day.

This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation on Read Across America Day to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.

Several Charleston County Schools will be running Dr. Seuss programs today, according to CCSD Spokesman Jason Sakran, and both Charleston County Public Library branches in West Ashley will have events Friday afternoon.

Both library branches are hosting special guests who will be reading Dr. Seuss stories. The  reading will start at 3:30 p.m. Over at the  the reading starts at 4 p.m.
