Police Arrest Two, Seize Drugs, Money and a Gun
After executing a search warrant in West Ashley Charleston Police arrest two people and seized 37 grams of cocaine, cash and a stolen handgun
Charleston Police announced the arrest of two people following the search of a West Ashley apartment Friday.
Damon Smith, 25, of Arbus Avenue in North Charleston was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a stolen handgun, according to a statement issued by police.
Police also arrested Charnise Nicole Gadsden, 23, of Central Park Road, James Island, and charged her with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, according to the statement.

The pair was arrested after officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on Little John Drive, at . During the search the officers uncovered 37 grams of cocaine, one gram of marijuana, $1,125 cash and a handgun that had been reported stolen, according to the statement.
The search was an operation of the department's Special Investigations Unit, and according to the statement is part of an ongoing investigation.
