Police Arrest Dollar Tree Robber
Police located the suspect less than an hour after the robbery was reported in another business
CHARLESTON — Police chrged Jonathan Burns, Jr., 55, of 1723 Grech St. with the strongarm robbery of the at 975 Savannah Hwy. on Wednesday Jan. 25, according to a Charleston Police Department statement.
Burns was on probation for property crime enhancement at the time and had two outstanding warrants with the department for breaking into a motor vehicle and financial transaction card theft.
On Wednesday an employee at the Dollar Tree allegedly found Burns in the store office around 4 p.m. Burns allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store office and struck the employee, causing minor injuries, as he fled.

Officers found Burns inside of a nearby business about 45 minutes later, according to the statement.
