Suspect Leads Officers on High-Speed Chase Through West Ashley
CHARLESTON - A suspect on a stolen motorcycle led Charleston County Sheriff's deputies and a Summerville Police officer on a high-speed chase through the Olde Town District of West Ashley on Sunday, hitting speeds of 100 mph down Highway 7, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

The Summerville officer had followed the suspect over the Cosgrove Bridge and called for help pursuing the man, later identified by the Summerville officer as Fernando Javier Wright, 20, of Summerville. The officers followed the suspect down Highway 7 and onto Interstate 526, where they accelerated to as much as 120 mph during the chase. The pursuit then continued over to I-26, at 115 mph until Wright allegedly abandoned the bike and fled on foot into the woods along the highway.
Officers and K-9 units were unable to locate the suspect, but Summerville Police have filed warrants on Wright, according to the report.

Scented Smash and Grab
CHARLESTON - A woman wearing a light colored hoodie and jeans smahsed the front door of an Ashley River Road tobacco shop at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday and stole several packages of herbal incense, according to a Charleston County Sheriff's Office report.
Nothing else in the store was disturbed, but the thief did leave behind a sock that dropped out of her pocket. The burglary was caught on video by the store's surveillance cameras.
The brand of stolen incense was not provided in the report, however in a separate Charleston Police report officers encountered two men suffering bad trips after smoking what they said was incense.
Witnesses told the officers that one of the men ran screaming from his apartment and collapsed in some nearby bushes, crying. An EMS was called to tend to the pair, the report stated.
