Police Arrest Prank Caller

CHARLESTON — Police arrested a Charleston man for disorderly conduct Monday around 9:30 p.m. after he admitted to making several prank calls to guests staying at the on Savannah Highway, according to a report.

Guests at the motel began receiving threatening and offensive calls shortly after 9 p.m. Monday. One woman reported receiving two calls from the same man; during the first call she said a male voice told her he was going to perform oral sex on her; during the second call a few minutes later the same voice said "You're gonna die in seven days."

The woman went to the motel parking lot where several other guests had also congregated and flagged down a passing officer. Some of the guests had confronted a man who was standing in the parking lot and "staring blankly" at them, and the officer interviewed him.

According to the report, the man told the officer he found an unlocked room at the motel and began dialing room numbers at random on the phone in the room and making the threats, then went outside to watch the reaction of the guests from the parking lot.
