Police Investigating West Ashley Burglaries

Several West Ashley residents lost their TVs and other electronics to burglars over the past week, according to Charleston Police Department incident reports.

In one case, two apartments in the same complex at 2040 Ashley River Road were hit, according to two separate reports. In both break-ins police found evidence of forced entry through the front doors. Both burglaries were reported to police on the morning of Feb. 3 when the residents of both units returned home to busted in front doors.

A 37-inch Samsung television and a Dell laptop was taken from one of the apartments. At the other apartment, a Dell laptop charger, a checkbook and a Nook eReader were taken.

Later that same day police were notified of another apartment burglary at 2235 Ashley Crossing Drive, according to another report. A 42-inch TV was stolen from that apartment.

On Feb. 5 Charleston Police received reports of two more burglaries in West Ashley, according to reports.

At 5 p.m. police were called to a home on Windmill Creek Road in Village Green, where someone had kicked in the rear door and stolen a Sony Playstation 2 and a black backpack while the family that owns the home was out of town. The burglary ocurred sometime between Feb. 3 when the family left and 5 p.m. on Feb. 5 when they returned.

Then at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 5 officers responded to another burglary call, this time at an apartment complex at 2213 Westchase Drive, according to another report. That resident had also been out of town since Feb. 3. He returned to find his front door unlocked and his TV, laptop and iPod Touch missing. Officers found pry marks on the front doorframe.
