Police Seize 5 Pounds of Pot from West Ashley Apartment

A West Ashley man is facing several drug charges after Charleston Police searched his apartment

A tip from some concerned neighbors led Charleston Police officers to the apartment of a West Ashley man where they allegedly found more than five pounds of marijuana.

James Mercado Enriquez, 40, of 2235 Ashley Crossing Drive, Apartment 7S, is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of hashish with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston, according to statement from police.

Officers executed a search warrant on Enriquez' apartment on Saturday. Inside they found 5.2 pounds of marijuana, 13.5 grams of hashish, 20 adderal pills, 75 alprazolam pills, a handgun and $1,500 in cash, according to the statement.
