Readers' Choice: West Ashley Park Top Choice

Covering 260+ acres and offering plenty to do, West Ashley Park was the top pick in this week's Readers' Choice poll

There's plenty to do at West Ashley Park on Mary Ader Avenue, and West Ashley Patch readers picked it as the best park in the area.

Nearly half of the poll respondents (44 percent) picked West Ashley Park. The West Ashley Greenway was the closest competitor with 22 percent of the vote. Ackerman Park, the Bees Landing Recreation Complex and Orange Grove Park/Mary Utsey Playground tied for third with 11 percent each.

Covering more than 260 acres, West Ashley Park features multiple soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, two playgrounds, an off-leash dog park, an 18-hole disc golf course, a fishing area and plenty of space to walk or bike.

The City of Charleston park facility also includes a pavilion area with restrooms and picnic tables, and can accommodate events on site through the city's permitting office at 843-724-7321.
