Readers Choose Early Bird Diner for Breakfast

chef and co-owner Dexter Haigler was excited to hear West Ashley Patch readers had voted his restaurant the best place for breakfast in West Ashley.

"First I really want to thank the readers for voting for us," Haigler said. "We're really not trying to do anything earth-shattering, we're just making simple food from scratch and taking care of our customers."

The diner, , has a built a loyal customer base around its combination of fine-dining level attention to detail in the kitchen with a laid back, friendly short-order diner atmosphere. The restaurant has even gained some national attention, appearing on an episode of Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives earlier this year.

"When we set out to start this place we wanted it to be comfortable, like you were sitting around and cooking for your friends at home," Haigler said. "Of course there's a lot more care and attention to detail because we're taking care of our customers, not just cooking for our friends."

However, Haigler added, "we've been able to make friends of a lot of our customers."
