School Board Will Vote On Pay Raise Tonight

Charleston County School Board members will vote on a proposal to increase their salaries by 2,400 percent

A proposal to increase the pay of Charleston County School Board members from $25 per meeting plus mileage reimbursement, to $15,000 per year will appear on agenda for tonight's meeting at 75 Calhoun St. at 5 p.m.

The Post and Courier is reporting that Board Member Elizabeth Moffly and School Board Vice-chairman Chris Collins support the measure while Chairman Chris Fraser opposes the move.

Moffly told the paper she believes School Board members should be compensated in line with Charleston City Council members and Charleston County Council members who receive $15,000 and $14,352, respectively.
