Sheriff Looking for Missing West Ashley Woman

Marjorie McCaffrey was reported missing by her husband on Sunday

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is searching for Marjorie Gayle McCaffrey, who was reported missing on Sunday morning by her husband.

Robert McCaffrey told deputies that he left the West Ashley home he shares with Marjorie and their two children around 10 p.m. Saturday, March 17, and headed to a second home the family keeps in Easley. He said Marjorie McCaffrey was home when he left, and that the two had an argument earlier in the day, according to a Charleston County Sheriff's Office report.

When Robert McCaffrey returned to the home on Limestone Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Marjorie McCaffrey was gone, he said. Her wedding ring, checkbook, car and car keys were still at the home. Robert McCaffrey also told deputies that his wife had left a typed note, the report stated. The McCaffrey children were also home when Robert McCaffrey returned.

The couple's two children, ages 10 and 4, have been taken into protective custody while the Sheriff's Office investigates the disappearance, according to a statement issued by Sheriff's Office Communications Officer Maj. James Brady.

Marjorie McCaffrey is approximately 5-feet 2-inches tall, weighing about 155 pounds with reddish brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700.
