Stavrinakis Won't Seek Senate Seat

Rep. Leon Stavrinakis announced Thursday he plans to seek re-election to the S.C. House District 119 seat

Ending weeks of speculation, Rep. Leon Stavrinakis (D - Charleston) announced Thursday he would not seek the S.C. Senate District 41 seat recently vacated by now Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell.

Stavrinakis will run again for the S.C. House District 119 seat he currently holds, according to a statement released by his spokesman Tyler Jones. Stavrinakis will officially file to run for that seat again on Friday.

that McConnell gave up when former earlier this year. The S.C. Constitution required that McConnell, as President Pro Tem of the Senate fill the vacancy left by Ard's resignation.
