Teen Arrested in Waffle House Shooting

A Ravenel teenager has been arrested and charged in a that left one dead and two others injured.

Deonte Steven Brown, 19, of 6051 Lot 44 Roper Run Road Extension, was charged Monday by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office with attempted murder in the Sunday morning shooting at the Waffle House at 3565 Savannah Hwy.

Brown turned himself in to detectives at Sheriff’s Office headquarters. 

According to authorities, Brown was involved in an altercation inside the restaurant with victim Quinton Allen, 19, of 3860 James Bay Road.

After the initial argument, authorities say, Brown is accused of pulling a firearm from his waistband and firing a shot that struck Allen. Brown then left the scene. 

Another teen, Dantaye Reed, was shot in the same incident and died at the Medical University of South Carolina. 

A bond hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
