Third Suspect Charged in Oct. 21 Armed Rbbery Attempt

Investigators say a third man was involved in the the Oct. 21 attempted armed robbery at Woodbridge Apartments

A third North Charleston man has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery at Woodbridge Apartments on Ashley River Road on Oct. 21, according to a Charleston Police Department statement.

Yassir Mustafa Elshwafa, 20, of 7626 Brandywine Drive, North Charleston, has been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery, according to the statement. He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston.

Two other men have already been charged in the case after officers stopped the silver Chevy Cruze they were in as it was leaving the apartment complex around 1 a.m. that night. Brandon Lloyd Daniels, 20, of 1616 Larry Street, North Charleston, is charged with attempted armed robbery, assault and battery — 1st degree, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a stolen handgun and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lamarkeis Forrest, 19, of 8088 New England Drive, North Charleston, is charged with attempted armed robbery and assault and battery — 1st degree, according to a statement from police. Both remain in custody.

Police were called after two residents of the apartment complex encountered a pair of masked men, at least one of which was armed with a handgun, in a stairwell. The residents fled from the men and heard several gunshots as they ran, according to a Police statement.

Police Public Information Officer Charles Francis said investigators determined Elshwafa was also involved.
