Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. The Lowcountry's registration period for Toys for Tots opens on Oct. 15. The registration period will remain open through Nov. 19. Applications can be submitted at the organization's "Toy Factory" at 5101 Ashley Phosphate Road, Suite 149. Please bring proof of custody, a photo I.D., and the child's original birth certificate when applying. To qualify, a child must be 12 years old or younger. Children with special needs are exempt from the age requirement. (WCBD News 2)
  2. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will be touring Charleston's infrastructure on Wednesday. Buttigieg will be highlighting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's local investment during the tour. He will be joined by House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn during the tour. (WCBD News 2)
  3. Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating skeletal remains discovered on Monday morning. The remains were reportedly discovered by a work crew on Johns Island shortly after 11:00 a.m. The remains were located in the 3400 block of Patton Avenue in a wooded area. The investigation is still in its early stages. (Live 5 News WCSC)
