Uninvited Guest Startles West Ashley Couple

Intruder said he just wanted to let the residents know their door was unlocked.

CHARLESTON - A couple living in a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard apartment complex was startled to find a man wearing a long overcoat and white gloves standing in their kitchen at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a Charleston Police Department report.

When confronted by the residents the man allegedly told them he found an unlocked door and wanted to inform the residents about it, then he fled the apartment. The intruder is described as a black male, approximately 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall, weighing 185-200 pounds with a short haircut and no facial hair. The couple told officer they had locked the deadbolt on their front door, but after the man left they could only locate one set of keys, the other was missing.
