Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:
- The Charleston City Council has passed an updated city ordinance to increase safety on King Street. The ordinance will hold businesses serving alcohol after 12:00 a.m. accountable. The ordinance has also enhanced the requirements for permitting, security measures and restricting underage drinking. The updated ordinance was passed by the council unanimously. (ABC News 4)
- The Charleston Metro Chamber has chosen its Leadership Charleston Class of 2023. The highly coveted professional development program has been offered for over 45 years. - Charleston County School Board Chair Rev. Dr. Eric Mack has withdrawn himself from the upcoming school board election. The election will be held on Nov. 8. Mack sent his withdrawal letter to the county’s Board of Election on Wednesday. (Count On 2)
