Wanted: Zombie Wrangler (Volunteer Position)
The Charleston rUNdead 5K is still looking for a few volunteers

If you haven't heard about Charleston's inaugural rUNdead 5k, you're too late to sign up for the race, but organizers are still looking for volunteer help.
And of course spectators are welcome at the Oct. 27 event. How often do you get to see zombies chase people through the woods and not have to worry about getting bitten?
The race serves as a fundraiser for the Lowcountry Foodbank, and organizer Ben-Jamin Toy said the event has taken off beyond anything he had imagined.

"A full 80 percent of the registrations came from Facebook, another 15 percent came from the Parks page," Toy said. "This is a completely social viral event."
The rUNdead is not like just any other 5K. Runners will face a race course with several obstacles, fading light and a horde of undead corpses hungry for flesh. Runners re outfitted with a flag-football style belt and have to make it to the finish line with at least on flag to win, while the zombies along the course try to take the flags.

Toy likes to point out that the registrations for zombies and runners all filled up before the first advertisement for rUNdead hit local media. But he said he still needs about 15 volunteers to help along the course by directing runners towards the obstacles, and "making sure none of the zombies get too aggressive."
The race will be held on the grounds of Charleston County's newest park, Old Towne Creek at 1400 Old Towne Road. The gates open at 3 p.m., the race starts at 5 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to carpool due to a limited amount of parking on the site.
