Weather Doesn't Dampen Marley Lion Music Fest

Hundreds turned out for 1st Annual Marley Lion Music Festival

Inclement weather largely passed the 1st Annual Marley Lion Music Festival by Sunday.

James Island County Park Officials had to delay the start of the festival for about an hour due concerns over lightning, but once the clouds cleared the musicians, many of whom attended Academic Magnet High School with Lion took to the stage.

Hundreds of people turned out despite the ominous sky. Proceeds from the $5 admission charge, sales of T-shirts, stickers, posters and a silent auction went to the Heart of the Lion Fund which was set up by Lion's family to make grants to charitable organizations.

The event was organized by friends of Lion's family in the months since . In additon to the Heart of the Lion Fund, Crime Stoppers has set up a reward fund for information leading to the arrest of Lion's killer.
