West Ashley Man Shot in Maryville

Shortly after hearing several gunshots a 5th Avenue man found his nephew on his front porch with a bullet wound, according to a Charleston Police Department report.

The gunshots were heard in the area of Davidson Avenue and East Street around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. A 32-year-old man was hit in the hip by one of the bullets as he rode a bicycle through the intersection of Davidson and East. The victim, who was able to continue riding a few blocks to his uncle's house on 5th Avenue, did not see the shooter, according to the report.

The victim was alert and able to speak with officers before being transported to MUSC by ambulance.
