What Should Go Here: Magnolia House

Once an assisted living facility, and prior to that a school, what used to be known as Magnolia House has remained vacant at the corner of Sycamore Avenue and Magnolia Road for several years.

with plans to build a new urban horticulture center and community garden, but the Magnolia House building was not part of the sale.

The Magnolia House, unlike most other vacant non-residential properties in and around West Ashley isn't along one of the area's major highways, though both Magnolia Road and Sycamore Avenue are still fairly busy roads. It's also surrounded by residential communities, so the types of uses to which the property can be put may be limited. Maybe in this case the building should be turned into an apartment or condo complex, or even a community center.

The interior of the building has been converted from a school to an assisted living facility, but no one has lived there for years, and who knows what it looks like now, or how much it would cost to renovate it for other uses. It would be a shame if nothing can be salvaged, but this may be a case where a complete tear-down could be the best course of action.
