National Family's Caregiver Month

BOLD Reauthorization Act of 2024

November is National Family Caregivers Month, offering an important reminder to support the 219,000 South Carolina caregivers. Alzheimer’s disease is devastating – not only for the nearly seven million Americans living with the disease, but also for the 11 million Americans providing unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

After losing my Mimi to Alzheimer's Disease in 2017, I saw firsthand the effects of this terrible disease. Through my time volunteering in local Memory Care facilities, I have seen how the same disease that stole my Mimi almost ten years ago is still devastating people today.

I am urging Congress to support the bipartisan BOLD Reauthorization Act of 2024 that would renew and strengthen our nation's public health response to Alzheimer’s for another five years. South Carolina is one of 30 states funded through BOLD for implementation of the SC Statewide Plan to Address Alzheimer’s and related dementias. To ensure South Carolina is able to continue to implement the strategic statewide plan, BOLD needs to be reauthorized. This bill directly helps people in the Palmetto State. South Carolinians are benefiting from early detection and diagnosis, and improved resources for caregivers.
Join me today in asking Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Tim Scott to co-sponsor The BOLD Reauthorization Act. #ENDALZ
