Registration open for Girls on the Run spring season

Girls in grades 3 through 8 can register now for the Girls on the Run of Columbia spring season. The season begins Feb 3 and runs through April 26, when participants complete the Providence Heart & Sole Women’s Run. More than 41 locations in Richland and Lexington counties are hosting teams.

Girls on the Run is a national after-school program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.  During 12 weeks of interactive activities such as running, playing games and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls. Although it’s not a competitive running program, the girls train together to walk or run a 5K event.

The program fee is $150 per participant and includes all materials for the season, snacks, 24 lessons led by trained coaches and the race entry fee. Income-based scholarships are available.
