Sanford and Colbert Busch Raised More Than $3 Million
No shortage of cash raised and spent in special election.

The final fundraising totals are in for the special election in the First Congressional District.
Republican Mark Sanford was able to defeat Elizabeth Colbert Busch despite being outraised and outspent by nearly two-to-one.
According to the Federal Election Commission, Colbert Busch raised more $2,214,237. The campaign spent $1,841,961. There is still $282,276 on hand.

Meanwhile, Sanford raised $1,135,150. The former governor's campaign spent $1,104,833. His campaign has $166,294 on hand.
When the outside spending of PACs is taken into consideration, the Sanford campaign will probably have been outspent by a ratio of closer to four to one. The final PAC numbers will be available later this year.
