Verizon Wireless to Add 120 Jobs in South Carolina By the End of 2013

Press release by Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has announced it will hire 120 full-time customer specialists and retail employees by the end of 2013. The positions will be based across South Carolina. Interested candidates may apply online by visiting the Verizon Wireless website at www.vzwcareers.com.

The available positions offer highly competitive salaries and benefits, including health care coverage that begins on the first day of employment, and participation in the company’s 401 (k) program with a dollar-for-dollar match of up to six percent of an employee’s salary contribution. Employees are also eligible for tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance and annual bonuses. Resources to promote work/life balance include lactation rooms for new mothers, on-site college courses, education study rooms, dining facilities and on-site fitness centers.

This hiring announcement comes on the heels of Verizon Wireless being named by Working Mother one of the best companies for working moms for the thirteenth straight year. Verizon is also listed on Computer World’s list of the “100 Best Places to Work in IT.”

“Verizon Wireless is committed to providing programs that help working moms and dads balance their various responsibilities,” said Jerry Fountain, president of the Carolinas/Tennessee region for Verizon Wireless. “We’re proud to offer resources to support all our employees and enable their success.”

The announcement also provides good employment news following a report last week in The State on the continued impact the economic downturn is having on many South Carolina families. The piece, which called for stronger job growth in high-tech fields such as mobile devices and cloud computing, lamented that median household income in the state was down $5,000 between 2000 and 2012.

Fountain added, “Our 4G LTE network allows Verizon to expand beyond the world of cell phones and truly become a go-to, high-tech hub to meet the data demands of both consumers and enterprise customers. Meeting our customers’ demands and remaining at the cutting edge of industry innovation requires a talented staff to help drive our success.”
