Richland County to celebrate milestone with ribbon cutting for newly paved roads (wach.com) — Richland County is marking a major milestone for Columbia-area residents as four former dirt roads, including Nathan Ridge Lane and Jackson Road, are now paved under the Transportation Penny program. The $1.3 million project brings the total to 100 dirt roads paved, adding lanes, ditches, and better drainage for safer daily travel in nearby communities.
   

2. Victim in Columbia Planned Parenthood shooting wounded in the stomach, court papers show (postandcourier.com) — Columbia police say a man shot outside the city’s Planned Parenthood clinic last month suffered a stomach wound but has since been released from the hospital. The accused shooter, leader of a local anti-abortion group, faces two felony charges while investigators continue probing what led up to the gunfire.
   

3. Three Black Leaders Appointed to New Roles at HBCUs (jbhe.com) — Leadership is changing at Benedict College in Columbia, where Joi Gabrielle Artis has been named campus minister and chaplain, bringing years of classroom and church experience. She also trained at a Columbia-based theological seminary, while two other appointees take new roles at HBCUs in Orangeburg and North Carolina.
   

4. South Carolina Lottery Mega Millions, Pick 3 results for Dec. 12, 2025 (greenvilleonline.com) — If you bought a lottery ticket, you’ll want to know that recent Mega Millions, Pick 3, Pick 4, Cash Pop, and Palmetto Cash 5 results are in, and big winners must claim in person in Columbia. The South Carolina Education Lottery’s headquarters and claims center on Assembly Street handle prizes over $100,000, with mail-in and retail options for smaller wins.
