  1. Yesterday, an accident occurred on Highway 278/Cross Island Parkway on Hilton Head Island. Around 10:50 a.m., an accident blocked the left eastbound lane, causing motorists to experience delays while driving through the area. The accident was cleared by the afternoon.   2. Whitehall Park, located down the road in Beaufort, is officially accessible again! The gate is now operational and the parking lot is open to the public. Residents are invited to enjoy the park from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Winter hours (for next season) will be 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Beaufort County Government SC via Facebook)
  3. A nearby home in Beaufort County caught fire from lightning over the weekend. According to firefighters, the attic caught fire Saturday night after taking a lightning strike to the roof.
    The home, located in the Berkeley Hall community, was saved from extensive damage thanks to a quick response from fire crews. The homeowners escaped with their pets before crews arrived and no injuries were reported. (Live 5)
