• Investigators: Man tried to sexually assault woman inside Hilton Head Walmart bathroom (wjcl.com) — An attempted sexual assault inside the women’s restroom at the Hilton Head Island Walmart has led to multiple charges against a 35-year-old Varnville man, authorities say. Deputies report the victim fought him off before an elderly man intervened, and investigators are still gathering information, asking anyone with tips to contact Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
   

• Driver killed in single-car collision on Hilton Head early Tuesday morning (islandpacket.com) — A driver died early Tuesday after their car left Main Street on north-end Hilton Head Island and crashed into a tree near Whooping Crane Way, according to state troopers. Authorities say the driver was alone in the vehicle and died at the scene, and the coroner’s office is still working to identify the victim following another fatal collision hours earlier in Beaufort County.
   

• HHI man pleads guilty to killing man while evading police (wsav.com) — A Hilton Head Island man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to reckless vehicular homicide and failing to stop for blue lights in a 2020 crash on William Hilton Parkway. Investigators say he sped away from a traffic stop, ran a red light at Gum Tree Road, and slammed into 22-year-old Colton Poirot’s car, killing him and involving another vehicle.
