  1. A family visiting Hilton Head Island had a close encounter with an alligator when the reptile charged at a fisherman near a pond. Cell phone footage captured the intense moment as the alligator approached the fisherman, but luckily no one was harmed. Experts from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources believe the alligator associated humans with food, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wildlife and avoiding feeding them to prevent such incidents.   2. A mother in Beaufort County is suing Hilton Head Gardens apartments after her 14-year-old daughter was allegedly attacked by a tenant in the parking lot. The lawsuit claims that the leasing company's negligent screening practices contributed to the assault and other violent crimes on the property. The court documents reveal that the teenager suffered a concussion and debilitating post-concussive headaches as a result of the attack. (Subscription: Hilton Head Island Packet)
  3. Sixteen-year-old Margaret Turner was awarded the title of Miss South Carolina Teen at the Township Auditorium in Columbia. Known for her anti-bullying platform and web-based app, Turner aims to promote respect and values for all.
