  1. Beaufort County Administrator Eric Greenway has been fired by the County Council following a misconduct complaint received by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Council Chairman Joe Passiment confirmed Greenway was terminated with cause; however, he refrained from providing further details due to ongoing legal considerations. John Robinson, the assistant county administrator of Public Safety, will serve as the acting county administrator. (WSAV-TV)
  2. Students across the county attended the district's back-to-school expo at Beaufort High School on Saturday. Local families gathered essential information, supplies, and uniforms ahead of the school start on Aug. 21. Organizers emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration for a successful academic year. (WTOC)
  3. Hilton Head Christian Academy defied the rain and opened practice on Friday, gearing up for the upcoming season. The team had an impressive 2022 season, boasting a 7-4 record and a SCISA state playoff appearance. As a result, the Eagles will be making the jump to SCISA AAA from their previous classification of SCISA AA. (WJCL News Savannah)

  • Looking to buy a new home on the Island? Five new properties have just hit the Hilton Head real estate market, including a waterfront homesite in the Spanish Wells community. (Hilton Head Patch)
  • Tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 1) at noon, Beaufort National Cemetery will host a ceremony celebrating Vietnam veteran Thomas Moore. There is little known about Moore, whose remains are still unclaimed as of the time of publication. (The Island News)
  • Down the road in Savannah, local mainstay Bernie's Oyster House is closing its River Street location and headed to Pooler. It is currently unknown what will take the place of the River Street storefront. (EatitandLikeit.com)
