- The Town of Hilton Head has announced it will be creating a Housing Action Committee as part of an initiative to address the issue of workforce housing. The town is looking for 11 people to serve who have valuable experience with housing and community development. Individuals who have an interest in serving on the Housing Action Committee may apply online here. (Town of Hilton Head Island Government)
- Down the road in Hardeeville, a charter school first-grade teacher is honored for her 50 years of service as a teacher. Patty Wilson has been teaching at Royal Live Oaks Academy for the past four years after moving to the area from Pennsylvania. She started teaching before laptops and social media and will be teaching at Royal Live Oaks next fall for her 51st year. (WJCL-TV)
- In nearby Beaufort, the 2024 budget proposal includes employee raises and a major renovation at Southside Park. Final approval for the $57.7 million dollar budget is scheduled for Tuesday, Jun. 6. Southside Park will be getting a new playground, parking lot, pavilion, and a half basketball court. Also included in the budget is a 5 percent cost of living raise for employees and stormwater infrastructure improvements. (Hilton Head Island Packet via Yahoo News)

- The Coastal Discovery Museum is looking for volunteers for the Critter Meet and Greet Crew. Volunteers will be greeting visitors, handling animals, and giving engaging educational discussions about the critters. The program is for ages 16+ with two-hour shifts, one to two days a week available, and training is provided. To volunteer, please call Dawn Brut at (843) 689-6767 x228. - The Savannah Clovers professional soccer team invited some of the best area high school boys and girls soccer players to "Train Like A Pro" on Wednesday at Memorial Stadium. The high school players worked with Clovers coach Dave Proctor and the team on drills and received expert instruction. The Clovers are in their first season in the National Independent Soccer Association. (WJCL News Savannah)
- The Island Recreation Center will be holding summer lacrosse programs for both boys and girls. The action starts in June with a Summer Boys Lax program and a Girls' Lacrosse Clinic.
