Here are the top three stories in Hilton Head today:
- Stephen Smith's body was quietly exhumed on Saturday. The investigation into the teen's death, whose body was unexplainably discovered on Sandy Run Roads in 2015, is ongoing as there have been years of speculation in regard to his death. As of Mar. 21 of this year, SLED Director Mark Keel officially declared that Sam's death is a suspected homicide rather than a "hit-and-run" incident. (Subscription: Hilton Head Island Packet)
- A golden Lab/Labrador mix puppy was rescued by a Bluffton native during a routine call-in regarding a deer corpse. Robin Boeke, who runs a rescue farm in Islandton, received a call about 10 miles from her farm. The 10-month-old puppy, now named Sunny, had been laying down with the deer for about two to three days before she was found. Sunny will be up for adoption at the Palmetto Animal Rescue in Ridgeland. - Criminal charges were dropped against Hilton Head restaurant owner, Graeme Tosh, 56. Tosh, the owner of Kind of Blue, was charged with third-degree sexual conduct with a minor on Mar. 6, but the charges were recently dropped last Tuesday, Mar. 28. According to a dismissal letter provided by Tosh’s attorney, the evidence in the case does not meet the “elements” of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree and prosecutors cannot prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. His attorney does not anticipate that this case will result in any additional charges. (Aol)
