1. Colonel Bradley Ward, Commanding Officer of Parris Island led a ceremony on Memorial Day at Hilton Head Veterans Memorial amphitheater to honor those who lost their lives serving the country. People attended the annual event from all over the country to pay tribute to their family members. The Rotary Club planted a flag in a field of honor for each fallen local veteran. (WSAV-TV)
2. Mayor Lisa Sulka of nearby Bluffton wants to educate new Beaufort County residents about hurricane season preparedness. The 3,000 new residents moving in each year may not be familiar with evacuation plans when a hurricane is on the way. Mayor Sullka encourages residents to check the town's website for evacuation routes and flood information. (WTOC)
3. Forrest Fire BBQ is a new counter service-style restaurant located in Coligny Plaza on Hilton Head Island. The owner, Lee Lucier, made the decision to have a smaller staff to combat the worker shortage on the island, allowing for quicker service and more affordable meals. Chef Scott Bodkin, who has been living on the island for 13 years, creates a menu with scratch-made dishes inspired by Lowcountry cuisine. (WJCL 22)

• Tickets for the 11th annual Spartina 449 Warehouse Sale will be available starting Wednesday, Jun. 7 at Noon on Eventbrite.
