- The Hilton Head Sharks semi-pro football team, under the guidance of Daryle and Renaldo Mitchell, will begin their season at home against the South Carolina Gators in the Lowcountry Championship Bowl this Saturday. The team, which ranges from fresh high school graduates to men in their 50s, will host the game at Hilton Head High's Community Stadium, with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. The Sharks, through this event, provide an avenue for retired athletes to stay connected with football beyond coaching. - An alligator was removed from Coligny Plaza, a popular Hilton Head tourist attraction, due to safety concerns for visitors, an action recorded and shared via a linked video. This incident, which involved K&K Wildlife Services, comes on the heels of a fisherman being charged by an alligator on the island and a fatal alligator attack on a woman walking her dog. The management of the plaza confirmed that the operation was conducted with appropriate permits and licenses. (WYFF 4)
- The new Adaptive Traffic Signal Management System, currently being tested and calibrated across Hilton Head Island, may cause some interruptions to traffic. These tests, which are being conducted during non-peak hours to limit disruption, have already resulted in some technical issues, including signals failing to register side street traffic. The Town administration is encouraging locals to report any unexpected delays at intersections and is appreciative of the feedback received so far, which aids in system optimization during the testing phase.
