  1. On Thursday, volunteers on Hilton Head Island came together to build 350 bunk beds for families in need. The project, which took place at the Port Royal Golf and Racquet Club, is part of the Lowe's Foundation's Swing for Charity golf fundraiser, which raises money for the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The event saw hundreds of people come together to lend a hand, ensuring that families throughout the region will have a comfortable place to rest their heads at night. (WJCL News Savannah)
  2. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is searching for 32-year-old Sharkee Mitchell, a Hilton Head man wanted on multiple charges. Mitchell allegedly threatened his relatives with a gun and physically assaulted one of them on Apr. 19; he faces multiple charges, including domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony. Police consider the suspect "armed and dangerous" and are urging the public to report any information regarding his whereabouts. (Hilton Head Island Packet)
  3. Just outside of Hilton Head, Bluffton Self Help has launched the "Stock the Market" campaign to provide 8,000 bags of non-perishable food for families in need. Those who wish to contribute can stop by the center to drop off bags or make a monetary donation online. Additionally, a special "Stock the Market Saturday" event will take place on May 13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for people to make in-person donations. (WSAV-TV)
