Here are the top three stories today in Hilton Head:

  1. Edisto Beach, Folly Beach, and Hilton Head Island are officially weighing the idea of banning certain sun blocking tents, canopies, shades, and more in the future. Officials along the Grand Strand have already incorporated certain bans on their beaches and say these rules help to promote public safety, so the police can see the ocean as well as free up space on the beach. Hilton Head Island's Deputy Town Manager, Joshua Gruber, said discussions about the potential ban will start this summer and could go into effect as early as next year. (Post and Courier)
  2. Make a Wish recipient Jimmy Williams had the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the RBC Heritage this past weekend. He was offered a chance to come to the tournament, learn more about the behind-the-scenes of the event, and get the inside ropes from some of his favorite players. Jimmy is an avid golfer who had dreams of a PGA career until some health issues arose and he received a heart transplant. (Count On News2)
  3. Each time a hot dog, hamburger, soda, or beer is purchased at a concession stand at the RBC Heritage, the money is used to help local charities. The Hilton Head Firefighters Association put in over 122 hours of work this weekend to raise at least $20,000 or more for local organizations, as well as help local kids get a chance to experience camp, athletic programs, and more.
