- The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Shelter Cove Sculpture Trail will be held today, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The ceremony will also feature the dedication of the Charles Cousins Bench. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to park at the trailhead adjacent to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. (Hilton Head Island Government)
- Wildlife experts say sea turtle nesting season is underway at Beaufort beaches, including Hilton Head Island. Today marks the official start of the season, and volunteers have begun patrolling the beaches to help report and protect nests. Beach-goers who happen to encounter a turtle on the beach are encouraged to remain quiet, still, and at a distance. (NewsBreak)
- The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office closed all eastbound lanes of Bluffton Parkway on Saturday afternoon following a crash. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Buck Island Road. Lanes were blocked due to the crash. (Live 5 WCSC)
