4 Charged in Connection with Shooting of Gaston Teen
A 19-year-old Gaston man suffered serious injuries after being shot, but is recovering, according to the sheriff's department.
Two men and two women are facing charges in connection with the June 23Â shooting of a 19-year-old Gaston man, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Courtney Lynn Posey, 20, of Pelion, Bobby George Sightler, 19, of Gaston and Jody James Stukes, 32, of Gaston are each charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Caleb York Roswell, according to the sheriff's department.Â
Xanthe Amanda Smith, 26, of West Columbia is charged with obstructing justice.Â
Stukes is accused of shooting Rowell in the head around 12:09 p.m. June 23, according to the sheriff's department. Detectives also say Sightler shot Rowell.Â
Rowell was shot a total of three times, including in the head and the upper body, according to the sheriff's department. He was left seriously injured in the woods off Lord and Tucker Court.
He is undergoing treatment at a local hospital and is expected to recover, according to the sheriff's department.Â
Posey, who was previously romantically involved with Rowell, is accused of conspiring with Stukes and Sightler to harm Rowell. Deputies say she was present when they shot Rowell.Â
Deputies say Smith hid the weapon that Stukes and Sightler used and refused to tell deputies where it was.Â
Deputies are still investigating the motive for the shooting.Â
Posey, Stukes and Sightler are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center without bond awaiting trial, according to the sheriff's department. Smith is being held on bail totaling $27,130.Â
