Update: Lexington Woman Dies in Crash on Old Lexington Road

A Lexington woman died Sunday afternoon after her car ran off the road and overturned, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Betty Alice Smith, 58, was pronounced at the scene from head and body trauma, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office.  

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Old Lexington Road, said Cpl. Sunny Collins with the highway patrol. Smith was driving south when her car ran off the right side of the road and overturned. 

The Lexington County Coroner's Office has not released the driver's identity yet. 

The S.C. Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash.
